about us - meet the team

At Gentle Dental, our philosophy is simply to offer you the very best in cosmetic dental care. We use the most advanced treatments available anywhere in the world today. Rob Jukes and his team have studied extensively with leading American cosmetic dentists in order to make the very latest techniques and equipment available in the UK without the need to travel to London to get them. Their commitment, support and expertise guarantee you the best treatment before, during and after your transformation. They will ensure that nothing spoils the pleasure of seeing your new smile for the very first time.

dr rob jukes

rob jukes
Rob qualified from Birmingham dental school in 1985. He went straight into general practice and had two or three jobs working for other people before he bought his own practice. Rob set up Gentle Dental in 2004 when he realised that he wanted to do something more than just drill and fill to treat disease.  His ethos is now to try to prevent disease if at all possible and if not possible to treat it in the most minimal, natural way.

As his knowledge has increased he has developed an interest in cosmetic dentistry and the more complicated cases.  It started with a certificate in implant dentistry from the Warwick University course and then developed into an interest in tooth wear and how teeth bite and the problems associated with these things.  This has led to study with Dr. Larry Rosenthal of the Aesthetic Advantage in New York and Dr. John Kois of the Kois Centre in Seattle.  Rob has also studied orthodontics and orthopaedics with Dr “Skip” Truitt from Texas.

Rob’s heroes of modern dentistry are Dr. John Kois for his breadth of knowledge and his science based approach and Dr. Pascal Magne for his keeping it natural approach.Rob is married with two young children who fill most of his spare time but is training now for a triathlon.

What I love about my job“I love having such a profound affect on people by improving their smile in a big or little way.  I love seeing people go from decay and black fillings to lovely clean, healthy mouths that look so natural.  I especially like changing people from nervous wrecks to, if not loving coming in, at least they don’t dread it.”

niamh

niamh egan
Niamh is the practice hygienist.  She qualified from Edinburgh in 1988 and worked full time for a number of years.  She then moved into practice management for a time which coincided with her starting a family.  As Gentle Dental grew she moved back into hygiene and has since done a number of significant courses through the Eastman Hospital in London to improve her knowledge and considerable skills.

Niamh knows the whole ethos of Gentle Dental and fits the mould perfectly by bringing a gentle, non threatening approach to the treatment of gum disease and periodontitis.

She also fills a lot of her spare time with her children but is chair of the fund raising committee for the local cubs and scouts and is the chairman of the southern branch of the hygienists society

What I love about my job: “I love having long enough appointments that I can make a meaningful difference.  I can affect the whole of someone’s future health and help them to keep their teeth for life.  I love that we help kids grow up with enough knowledge to help prevent decay and gum disease.”

patricia richardson

patricia richardson
Patricia joined the practice over 2 years ago having left a job with a large American company that involved a great deal of travel.  She decided she wanted to spend more time with her husband and dogs – she has two King Charles spaniels.

Her role encompasses all the normal duties that you would expect of a dental receptionist and so much more.  Patricia is our treatment co-ordinator which means that she will sit down with clients, having spent time with Dr. Jukes discussing their treatment, and fit their treatment wants into a suitable budget and time frame for them.  Clients find this invaluable as there are many options to cover costs and Patricia is au fait with all of them.

What I love about my job:
“I like the people – relating to them – having time to spent one to one to get to know them.  I like the variety, everyday there is something different and so we learn something new every day.”
